The programs, in detail

Four programs of 6 to 12 weeks, all built on footage from your own sessions.

Program 01 · The first year, done right

Ocean & pop-up

Beginners lose most of their waves to weak paddling and a slow pop-up. We drill both on land, then work on the ocean literacy that separates a good session from a frightening one: reading rips, choosing a beach, understanding tide, and the etiquette that keeps a lineup functional.

  • 10 weeks
  • New surfers
  • 3 hours a week
  • A board, plus local lessons

Weeks 1–3 · On land

Pop-up drills and paddling strength before the water.

Weeks 4–6 · Reading a beach

Rips, tide, sandbars and where not to paddle out.

Weeks 7–8 · Whitewater to green

Timing the wave, and committing early enough.

Weeks 9–10 · First green waves

Filmed, reviewed and adjusted.

Weeks 1–2 · Forecasts

Swell, period, wind and what they mean for your break.

Weeks 3–4 · Watch before you paddle

Fifteen minutes on the sand is worth an hour out back.

Weeks 5–6 · The peak

Finding it, and lining up on landmarks.

Weeks 7–8 · Selection

Choosing the right wave in a set.

Program 02 · Sit in the right spot

Reading the ocean

This is the program that changes wave counts most. We work through reading a forecast, watching a break before paddling out, identifying the peak, lining up against landmarks, and the discipline of letting three waves go to be in position for the fourth.

Program 03 · Going somewhere

Turns & flow

The bottom turn is the foundation of everything after it, and most surfers rush past it. We break it down frame by frame from your footage — weight, eyes, timing — then build trim, top turns and the rhythm of linking one into the next.

  • Riding down the line
  • 4 hours a week
  • A board you can turn

Weeks 1–4 · Bottom turn

Weight, compression and looking where you're going.

Weeks 5–7 · Trim

Finding and holding the fast part of the wave.

Weeks 8–10 · Top turn

Redirecting off the lip.

Weeks 11–12 · Linking

Two turns, then three, in one wave.

Weeks 1–3 · Paddle engine

Swim and pull work that transfers to paddling.

Weeks 4–5 · Shoulders

Keeping them healthy under volume.

Weeks 6–7 · Breath and calm

Comfort and composure, practiced on dry land.

Week 8 · Trip plan

A destination and a schedule that match your level.

Program 04 · Ready when it's good

Surf fitness & trips

Most people surf in short bursts and arrive at a trip unfit. We build paddle-specific conditioning and shoulder resilience you can do anywhere, plus calm breathing practiced safely on land, and honest advice about which destination suits your level.
